"bring heavy heads that can be waterloaded easily and will flip big flies" "flop 20ish feet of line out behind them, then use that water load and the chunky head to throw 40ish feet (and a big fly) towards the bank with relatively little effort." Nope, horrible. I like an occasio...

"I blame the whole "faster is better" thing on the marketing on the graphite's modulus back in the early days. It was the main selling point for quite a while... "Our blanks are made of the XX million modulus graphite fibers!"" You can blame graphite marketing but that'...

Maybe being a little troutist there? :) Bear in mind your saltwater sticks are a key part of that effort to sell us more rods - used to be I needed an #8 and a #10. Now I need a #7 for calm days an #8 for wind, a #9 and a #10 for permit and baby tarpon....and on and on. I have a Loomis Cross Current...

Hi Lars
Yes the rinse agent used to stop plastic film having streaks when water dried on the emulsion - meaning it was designed to be used on plastic. Stuff I used had a faint or no scent.

Re: Medical Silk
You can't afford it :) Suture materials are made in sterile conditions - so are costly. Incidentally stuff called Bioline was an attempt to use 'soluble suture' type material as a tippet mono - rather thick and stiff, the original makers didn't do a lot of marketing research but the bio-degradable c...

Re: Fullers earth sinkant paste
Bit out of date but I'd replace the fairy liquid with a 'non foaming wetting agent' if you're getting serious about this stuff. Fairy Liquid and the like has perfume and ionic surfactants. Wetting agents are used in film processing, no suds, no perfume and no residues - fotoflo and the like are stil...

Re: Head at the rod tip increasing counterflex?
Interesting question
Have you tried casting a shooting head with mono shooting line - head at the tip then with slight overhang.

"I think that the modulus of the 3WT you brought down is very important."
"Personally I don’t think it’s a faulty rod (or materials or build) but rather it’s down to the design."
You thinking of getting into politics?
