Fly lines are fantastic, the only thing in the universe that speed up when the accelerating force is removed.

Why would a fly line be pretty much the only thing to defy physics and keep accelerating after a force had stopped being applied??

Is the buckle in the fly leg a symptom of a casting fault Mike? Apparently not Vince as everyone seems to use them as some sort of presentation cast :D I'm quite happy to see tls in beginners, it means that they are at least casting a loop and all we have to do is sort out stroke length and/or powe...

Tailing loops; the buckle in the fly leg must cross the rod leg twice. Or not! Some suggest that any buckle in the fly leg is a tailing loop even if the bottom of the buckle never even dips below the rod leg. The whole purpose of avoiding a TL is to not tangle or knot the line or leader. If there wa...

7, film them and show them.
8, make them trap a cap between the butt and their wrist and tell them you add another fiver to the bill every time they drop it.

A/ doesn't take leverage into account (leverage may impart over 80% of the force needed to give sufficient momentum to the line to make a cast)What is the difference between :
A/ the rod is a spring
and
B/the rod is a flexible lever
B/ sort of does.

No Pete, I just thought that it might be an idea to get some current answers to questions we may be asked in in an assessment. I wouldn't like to be asked a question and not give an up to date answer would I?

Ok, so what are the current myth busters? The rod isn't a spring; What is it? The front taper speeds up turnover; I suppose it's the leaders job to dissipate energy. The haul loads the rod; Can't argue with that. It's a good thing to throw wide loops with the wind; Especially the back cast. The loop...
