Re: FFi MCI test: comments and suggestions

A tailing trailing bottle nose dolphin loop. Very rare to see one in the wild.

Re: Reel seats and gravity

Nah, he's off the mark there. Next he'll be advocating left threaded bolts on the right hand wheels of the car because braking hard undoes the nuts on that side due to angular inertia ... ;)

Re: How to cast a pointed loop?

Cast a side loop and only show people a view from the side. Simples.

Re: FFi MCI test: comments and suggestions

I'm glad they've updated their definitions, especially the definition of creep, but this one triggers my OCD tendencies: Casting_Planes.jpg The fly leg is a 2D object. A plane going through it can occupy any orientation through 180°, from vertical to horizontal and beyond. For the "out of plane...

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

*interesting that SA write this. I did some testing of lighter lines making faster shots than heavier lines. Heavier lines don’t load the rod quicker, only more, which in turn slows the shot. I've always taken that little bit of marketing to mean "it loads the rod with less line outside the ti...

Re: Power pro braid fails

. But, any recommendations for a saltwater braid substitute? I assume we are talking about backing braid, rather than making leaders with it … I am a huge fan of the hollow gel-spun braid used by the big game fishermen. When it’s used as it should be, by splicing loops and joins, it’s possible to m...

I love that summation - I'm shamelessly stealing it! :D

Re: Father Time & fly rod choice

Hi Lou,

It would be the opposite for me. I need more strength to use a 12 than an 11 from any given family of rods. (That is, I'd find a Sage Method 12 harder to use than a Sage Method 11.)

Cheers,
Graeme
