Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024
Let me ask two questions then. Is there an active committee on the ICSF marketing the sport, producing press releases and keeping it in the public eye, that is in constant contact with sports programmers and magazines/newspapers? And then is there a committee dedicated to finding event sponsorship? ...

Re: FFi MCI test: comments and suggestions
I don’t worry too much about the definitions when they mean more or less the same thing. When they mean something different, such as Drag, that’s when problems arise. I would suggest that the examiners get externally and independently assessed. This was a good idea in the AAPGAI assessments. Unfortu...

Re: How to cast a pointed loop?
Further: at a risk of looking really dumb, is the distance between the two angles and the setting of the lower angle , the counterflex? Pom Yes max counterflex is responsible for the bottom dip on the Sexyloops logo. The very front point of the logo translates back to when the line started to slow,...

Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024
If casters can’t afford to go or find it too expensive then I don’t think that’s them being unreasonable. The entry for me is 880 Euros, since I’d have to pay the ICSF membership fees as well. For sponsored teams who are actually paid expenses and have everything else covered then it’s not a problem...

Man that beginners page is terrible. No wonder AI gives all the wrong answers. I’ll fix that page with a “site bite” soon, bringing it up to date.

Re: Mental Practice
Interestingly, although perhaps not surprisingly, there are several views on this. One is to use it in the early learning stages (p234). Certainly Mark the Bugman provided both internal and external cueing examples, and he mentioned to me in conversation later, that through visualisation there were ...

Re: Mental Practice
Apparently it can be a very good idea even during training to use mental imagery. Eg between casts to run through the cast in the mind. This is not something I can remember asking a student to do, but it’s certainly something I’ll try. I also like the idea of suggesting mental practise when the rod ...

Re: How to cast a pointed loop?
Ok this was my answer, of which I am not 100% by the way  Hi Steven, So this is an interesting question to answer. Firstly do you understand how loops shape? The shape of the fly leg is determined partly by the path the rod tip follows, but also in relation to how the remaining line that is n...
