Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I think the main reason people get “stuck” at 75’ is because they are not utilising the kinetic chain. Do you think that it is a gentic issue with these people, given that we naturally evolved to throw? ;) I think we evolved to throw but very few people are good at it. It’s not a honed skill unless...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I have a couple of questions for you now….because we’re in the teaching section. How would a caster independently discover relaxed control over the wrist as a solution for excess effort ? Do you remember a presentation on white bear theory? SL meet on the Annan. Part one I don’t think they do. I th...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
Because it’s not a very versatile technique. My reason for changing it, or suggesting a change, would be because the same cast can be made with less effort if the wrist is utilised in the stroke. I won’t change it if I’m guiding and will have to deal with it. This is because it’s going to take a lo...

That sounds great, Vinny! Keep pushing the window. Congratulations on your moment today. I’ve always thought that fly fishing presents us with life moments and that’s why we do it. These moments are indelibly printed in our minds.

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
There is no physical strap. An imposed mental one perhaps. You must have seen it, many times!!Stoatstail50 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 9:45 amIt depends

I’d take the strap off if that’s what you mean.

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
They’ve been told that the “proper way” to cast is not to use any wrist. Dont think this is uncommon. Many US instructors are being told this and consequently some are teaching it. Now the rod is an extension of the forearm.
If it works, do you change it?

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
No. What about if he’s casting like that but without the duck tape? It depends. Who is this person?, what can he do already?, what is he trying to improve? Is he freezing? Why does he believe he can’t control his wrist…what blithering idiot advised him to put a strap or tape on his arm ? can he swi...
