Re: OSD

That sounds great, Vinny! Keep pushing the window. Congratulations on your moment today. I’ve always thought that fly fishing presents us with life moments and that’s why we do it. These moments are indelibly printed in our minds.

If it works, do you change it?
It depends 🙂

I’d take the strap off if that’s what you mean.
There is no physical strap. An imposed mental one perhaps. You must have seen it, many times!!

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

They’ve been told that the “proper way” to cast is not to use any wrist. Dont think this is uncommon. Many US instructors are being told this and consequently some are teaching it. Now the rod is an extension of the forearm.

If it works, do you change it?

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Why does he believe he can’t control his wrist…what blithering idiot advised him to put a strap or tape on his arm ? can he swi...

Our caster has duck taped his rod butt to his forearm because he couldn’t afford the strap.
Are we cool with this?

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Have caught up!

Let’s take a 40’ cast then. No obstructions. Our caster has duck taped his rod butt to his forearm because he couldn’t afford the strap.

His cast goes 40’. Are we cool with this? (He’s not a competition caster)

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

I believe we have clear water between the objectives of casting competitors and angling students even for data gathering purposes. Competition casters are focused on absolute performance, I’m an angling student focussed on absolute performance :D To be honest I don’t really see the separation you s...
