Re: Limp nylon

Was listening to a fly fishing podcast recently. The discussion at one point centered on leader material. One of the podcasters stated that he didn't like limp nylon as a leader material because limp nylon doesn't produce as much power as stiffer nylon when casting; therefore, limits the casting di...

Rickard wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 6:38 pm The brand A. Jensen has some rods for seatrout fishing that is 8' instead of the common 9'. I think I've read that the idea here is to be able handle more wind without going for a heavier setup. If it really works I have no idea.

Re: Korich Podcast

I teach competition accuracy to all my long term students. Mostly because it’s stresses the importance of a good backcast. But also because it’s fun and improvements are measurable. I can see the difference as being flexibility. I see smoothness. We are looking at the same thing; I shall try your le...

Re: Korich Podcast

I agree with Vince and Rickard here! Contrary to Paul, I believe headspace is very important. There's several books written about its importance in all other sports, that should say it all... Cheers Lasse I was thinking Rick Hartman. Unbelievable fly caster I’m sure we agree. But he doesn’t perform...

I normally spend my days infront of the computer. Not ideal for flexibility.
I guess that knocks Paul’s theory of the “special ability athletes” out of the running then :p What’s next, natural selection? :p

Re: Korich Podcast

I don’t know Rickard. I don’t know her very well. But when I see casting ability on others, you for example, that’s a physical movement. I see it in others. Rick, Bernt, Dmitri, Fredrik in 5WT for example. There is a presence there. That is athletic ability, and smoothness is a big part of it, that ...

Re: Shorter rods for heavy streamer fishing

Definitely more than 9’ would be optimal for single handed distance. Depends on body type and line weight of course but for 6/7/8WT I would think 10’/9’6/9’3(?) would be optimal, or something like that. A 9’6 #7 is a single handed cannon. I would choose a 9’6 #7 MED head 7 as my optimal floating lin...
