Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024

Omg. Just reading this.
We where just starting to get things rolling regarding competition casting in Holland. Backed by the one major flyfishing organization.
After reading this I see no future for competition casting and lean towards pulling the plug on the entire initiative.

Re: wrist based rotation

Paul. Could it be that you just are not aware of the amount of muscles you are using? Maybe because, over the years, they are strongly developed and it just feels effortless?

Re: wrist based rotation

I am quit convinced that I am using the muscles around my wrist. The reason I am convinced is because I had muscle pain around that area when I switched to the 170. Again after watching Berndt’s fast wrist rotation, I practiced on that, and had muscle pain around the wrist. Same happens when trainin...

Re: When 10?

Hi Johan,
I think it is only sensible when you are consistent in your performance. Only than you tell if there is a difference in distance. And you have to give it some time to get used to.

Re: Long distance Jump Rolls /Switch.

I see.
Hauling on the backcast gave me the longest distance.

Re: Long distance Jump Rolls /Switch.

Hi Paul, I experimented with this a long time ago (around 20 years). For me the hauled casts gave me the longest switch casts by far. I used a Vision extreme distance #6 line and could cast it to the backing knot (110ft). The Vision had a very thin running line, and might have been overweight, which...

Why should an organization invest in casting sport?

I hope there are some people here who can answer this question. How did you convince governing bodies that they should invest in (fly)casting sport? We finally are having a meeting shortly and they will for sure ask "why should we invest in this". Of course I have some ideas, but input wou...
