Re: Using Video while teaching
... Teaching wise I dont videolize the line, but the students movements. He then can watch the achievements for the line going after improving his movements, if he wants to. Much easier to film the caster.... If I want the rod to be seen sometimes, I go on my knees and film against the sky. That al...

Always enjoy that video Lasse - great stuff!

Re: Hypothetical question on mechanics
Hi John, That's really interesting that someone is so successful with the T38 using a '170' stroke. I've always had issues with the line tucking in that event due to excess speed. As such, I've always backed right off the power in the backcast to try and avoid it. This has always led me to use a sh...

Re: Whole line out!
I’d be interested to know what you listen to Craig. I often do the same. Cheers, Paul Oy... The list is long and can be quite varied. Most of the time I am listening as way to metronome my distance casts - to get in a building phase of false casting. Slow, smooth with an underlying feeling of power...

Re: Whole line out!
Barry,
Do you listen to music while casting? Not joking. Put in some ear-buds and play whatever works for you given the task at hand.
I don't always listen when practicing but find it (at times) a good change-up, and it can act as a pace setter.
Craig

Re: Elbow Out Style
Hi John, An early morning for me based on frustration within another facet of my life. :asleep: I was just about to revise my post, alas it is too late. Agreed, we release the javelin, while in fly casting we keep the rod and release the line. The rod is a middleman so to speak, an extension of our ...

One strong difference is the use of a tool.

Re: Rotating through the stroke
... The other bits (tracking, trajectories, loop consistency, power application) are fundamental to all the casts being examined of course. So that’s really about dialling in a nice repeatable stroke that someone would want to learn . ... Cheers, Paul Nicely put... yes, yes and yes. :pirate:

Re: Rotating through the stroke
... I think it is a pity that line length judgement during false casting is not an essential component of either the CCI or MCI test structures . It encapsulates all the basics of casting technique and provides an obvious and very illustrative measure of both casting and instructional skill for sho...
