Re: fly rod resonation

Hi Vicente

Could you please post the link to the post you mention. That will help understanding your point. Thanks.

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

I confirm, this is an acceleration issue of the line, not a caster’s force one. I think you are speaking about the line feel, Paul. I mostly feel the MOI of the rod.

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

I think the statement was about the force applied to the line, not the one from the caster. I shall check that point hopefully.

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

Hi Paul

I guess the broomstick was short.
Comparisons are always arguable. Does an HT12 feels lighter than an HT6?

Gordy

The relationship is the same
W=1/2 F^^2 /k
W= 1/2 F F/k
W= 1/2 F x

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

Hi George Let’s try answering your questions When a given mass is moved by a given force by two levers of the same length but different stiffness isn’t the load the same??? I understand the “load” as the force generated which is the product of mass by acceleration applied to that mass by levers, but...

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

Hi all Comparisons are not so easy. Considering a given cast for a given mass of line and two graphite rods (905 type), one rod being faster than the other, then the casting model says that there is: • A larger tip speed for the faster rod at launch time • More elastic energy stored by the faster ro...

Re: Evaluating the Haul

Hi Walter The translation speed, like others, is the absolute speed (along the path). In this case the path is nearly horizontal: Paul 170 FC paths.JPG The important point is the timing of events: translation peak speed at 0.792 s rotation peak speed at 0.834 s haul peak speed at 0.871 s line hand p...

Re: Evaluating the Haul

There is something like a factor 2 by comparison with the record. Could you please plot speeds (rotation, translation and line hand).

Many thanks in advance
