Re: Separating rod speed from haul speed

In my opinion you concentrate too much on the rod, you should just think about raising it and not using it, let me explain, already by raising the tip of the rod the line comes towards you, when the rod is vertical and the left hand close to the right, stop the right and pull with the left, you won'...

Re: Dissecting the haul

I was wrong, I thought the traction served to lengthen the path not to bend the rod.

Re: wrist based rotation

Usually in these things I try to be practical by admitting my ignorance of how to use the kinetic chain efficiently, and I do this reasoning, take a hammer and hammer a nail, if you use your wrist in the end you will probably get the nail wrong, if the wrist arrives lying flat, the nail will probabl...

Re: Slack line casts

Everything happens after half the cast by moving forward (as if it were a side tailing loop) you start to learn it by letting the tip of the line run which will go to the left if you are right handed) practically the tip of the rod will continue to the right (just almost invisible to the eye) the he...

Re: Slack line casts

Hi Paul, how small the world is, Pozò and I fished and cast together for years, he always with his rod, I tested those from line 4 upwards, he is one of the best dry fly fishermen I have met and a great friend, Malik executes that throw masterfully.

Re: Slack line casts

I showed the svirgolato (that's what they call it) maybe 25 maybe 30 years ago both at the s. fair. Etienne who in Denmark, I don't remember the name of the fair, accompanied Pozò for the demonstrations, really didn't have much interest and in the end I didn't use it anymore except to put the fly to...

Re: Slack line casts

To have an efficient twist the rod tip must travel a small path to the right at the end of the lateral cast, if you lower the tip in front the fly will stop on the left, if you keep the tip at the right height and release the tension at the right moment the fly will go to the right.

Re: power vs speed

I believe that working on the shape of the loop to keep it slow can affect the distance, to be able to do this the sequence must take place before the counter flexion takes place and in the exact point that counterbalances the line, I have done many tests on this, so far nothing really exciting even...

Re: power vs speed

Experience tells me that with training on body movement sequences you can improve your peak speed and you can add a few meters maybe one or two.
