Re: Korich Podcast

I agree with Vince and Rickard here! Contrary to Paul, I believe headspace is very important. There's several books written about its importance in all other sports, that should say it all... Cheers Lasse I was thinking Rick Hartman. Unbelievable fly caster I’m sure we agree. But he doesn’t perform...

Or, a 8 foot rod has a smaller diameter blank and looks cooler, and more high end, plus it weighs less than a 9 footer ;)

Re: Shorter rods for heavy streamer fishing

Hi Taylor Leverage, we're at the wrong end of the lever  Main speed in a cast comes from the rotation we do, the longer the lever, the harder it is to do that rotation, and end it. In the world championships single hand shootinghead distance event, a 10 foot rod maximum is allowed. Lots of pe...

Re: Korich Podcast

Oh yeah, circles, everything goes in circles.... I thought we where over the stiff soft stuff a decade ago, keeps coming back too, so does load and springs. No wonder actual teaching and coaching has such a hard time getting traction..

Re: Shorter rods for heavy streamer fishing

Hi Taylor Not too sure it's only associated with streamers? But shorter rod is less swingweight, so not as hard on the body. Accuracy, depends on distance, it's a tradeoff for most, shorter rods have the benefit for the caster that the line isn't so far away from you, when delivering, making triangu...

Re: Korich Podcast

Hey, that's what Paul says, stiffer rods are less prone to tails, and I like stiffer rods than you

Must be because they are more forgiving, not because its just a preference, and the whole forgiving thing is snake oil.... ;)

Re: Korich Podcast

If most of them are noticeably casting better with lighter line outfits, or if most of them are casting better with heavier line outfits, then I think this would require more research. But initially it’s really about making the short to long adjustments, that we make using one outfit, in three diff...
