Re: How often do your students practise/train?

The secret is to live in a small village, where people get to know you well and standing in a field casting is the least strange thing about you😂

Re: The Boga Grip

If they help with safely unhooking for both the fish and person then great. But why anyone would feel the need to hang a fish by its jaw to weigh it is beyond my comprehension…. There are other options than weight that could be measured to allow the male posturing ‘bigus dickus’ awards to be given o...

Re: Defining Skills Levels

… I would have guessed yes to Speys and no to dh 😂 Intersting on the difference you see on each ‘group’. …. As an aside, I do like speys, there’s a rhythm and feel to them that is very relaxing, I keep meaning to go and have a lesson on dh, it looks and I expect feels very ‘zen’…. but not sure I can...

Re: Defining Skills Levels

To be advanced do you need to be advanced across the board? OH/speys/double & single…. or can you be weak in some areas because you never use / practice? As an example… I only really OH cast (with some rolls: pick-up, basic spey- but more for repositioning the line, rather than spey fishing) and...

Re: Open stance beginnet

I’d been toying getting some drone footage as well Marcus… We’ve just bought a drone for surveying at work, I’d been thinking of asking the operator (I know it can hold position on its own, but if I stuff the drone I’m £3,500 down 😂) if she would film me one day. With an orange line over concrete an...

Re: Humidity, Air Conditions and Casting

In the mean time I’ve been amusing myself by winding up friends and my other half by supporting Sarries (obviously not against Exeter) who they all obviously dislike… trolling friends lies at the heart of all good sport😂 Northern Sarries fans are like the Yeovil Liverpool supporters, too desperate ...

There’s a reason why Joan Wulff does strength training with a wine bottle. :D

Re: Humidity, Air Conditions and Casting

I reckon another year for Exeter to start to get back to where they were…. Hopefully! They may find it a tough trip away😏 In the mean time I’ve been amusing myself by winding up friends and my other half by supporting Sarries (obviously not against Exeter) who they all obviously dislike… trolling fr...

Re: Humidity, Air Conditions and Casting

Interesting topic and timely… I’ve been struggling with a chest infection all week so very lethargic and short of breath. Just popped out to the field, about 1C and very still, casting it feels ‘heavy’, another hour and it feels like it will be misty and below freezing… Not sure how much it’s my gen...

Re: Separating rod speed from haul speed

For timing I do this… 1 sight the backcast target 2 look for the rod butt passing the vertical (or later) explode with haul. 3 take a snap shot look of the loop forming. 5 sight forward target (top of a tree in the distance, which I’m going to throw over) 6 look up to see when the top third of the ...
