Hi there,
please, how is the curve of a progressive rod?
What is the expected influence of a progressive curve on the cast?
Thanks in advance
Carlos

Hi Paul,
I see, it was not clear to me that the collapse cast is under powered. I will try it.

Re: Nymphing Strategies
Hi, I prefer the tuck cast, but also use the parachute and a variation of the collapse, for which I don't have a name: cast forwards low and fast in an angle that makes the fly to hit the water first, the line tip will land on the same spot as the fly piling the leader and part of itself forming sla...

Re: Nymphing Strategies
So, in my experience, I came to the result that some very nice loops can be cast with leaders alone, particularly with a light long soft rod, provided the leader is well designed and the fly is light enough. If carried out this way, FN is in the fly fishing category, from my POV. The application sce...

Re: Nymphing Strategies
Hi, How do you define french nymphing? I relate FN to sight fishing, long leaders, micro nymphs. Quite different from CN. But i am not sure about how casting looks like on a purist approach to FN. Would the french men still consider tô be FN if line is cast, or must it be just the leader? Br Carlos

Paul,
if you think this thread is not in the right sub-forum, feel free to move it. Maybe a better place for it would be in the Flyfishing sub-forum.

Re: shore quick cast
Hi Paul, exactly, the idea came up after slowly figure-8 retrieving some nymphs. First, for many days, I tried to coil the line. But, if the coils are too small, I cannot cleanly manage longer lengths, and if they are too big, they hang on the ground and everywhere if it is winding. Coiling works fi...

shore quick cast
Hi there, today I devised a technique which I have never seen described anywhere. Actually, it is a combination of two well established techniques. I devised it while sighting carp along the shore of flat water, but the application scenario is any situation when you are moving and sighting fish from...

The 5 Essentials Page
Hi there, amazing, I have been trying to get as a straight tracking of the rod tip as I can, and I have been using the drills suggested by Paul in this lesson, namely to pantomime against a wall, pantomime with a laser pointer and casting trying to cover a line in a football field. I also used video...

Hi there
Maybe the best part of it is that it is totally measurably and seeing the improvements is quiet obvious. The key really is to practise one area until you hit a wall, then change your drills for another area until that hits a wall and change again or go back. That's what works for me anyway. What su...
