Re: Sink tip special update
Before I offered to make an FP on making loops, I should have turned on my head and remembered that I have actually made a casting movie, where I also cover both splicing and welding loops.

Re: does balancing a rod have and effect on casting?
Have you never heard of back peaches? They are the equivalent to pineapple on pizzas and the main reason people have to quit fly fishing. Sometimes even get divorced .

I try to use as light reels as possible, within a frame of price, intended use and reason. Rod, reel, line, leader and fly all move together. Well, Halford was right In so far That even if the fly imitates a fry (which I’d say it does), a fry is not an insect. Andrew Herd has done a good job of trying to compile information and takes the risk of some guess work (on thin ice, as he says). The fun part here is Halford’s clear dislike of the...

Re: Learning to read rivers
Trout are lazy f--kers, so think of a trout as your self on a couch. Where do you want to be? On a hot summer's day somewhere in the shade in a little breeze. Preferably close to the refrigerator with the cold beer and ice cream. On a cold day, somewhere with no wind, even closer to the fridge as th...

With the caveat that I’ve never cast the rod in question, I find that choosing a line some where in the middle of the recommended grain range often fits a Scandi style cast. For this I’d use a 35’ (or there about) shooting head system. There are many good ones out there and I’m in particular familia...
