Re: Structuring multiple lessons
If I’m really focussed on the task at hand that focus then becomes narrow. That why people who are on their phones all the time walk into lampposts, or have car crashes. That is because all of their cognitive capacity is taken up with extracting information from their focus of attention. If you are...

Re: Addressing My Loch Style Casting Issues
Personally, I'd look to see how the revised set up impacted the catch rate but my primary objective is to catch fish, not cast it a long wayPaul Arden wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:30 am Together that might solve the problems. Then next we can look at the casting.

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I know I’m looking at the targets Vince because I’ve spent a very long time training this. That is what is going on at a conscious level, how you extract available information from your field of vision is an entirely different ball of socks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsCokWHGLXc If I threw a ...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I can think of no sport where the sportsman doesn’t look to his target first, whether that’s golf, boxing, snooker or archery. In flycasting we (usually) have two targets. One for each direction. Golf looks at the target and addresses the ball, boxing isn't really applicable unless he has Inspector...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
This applies to shots, targets, all casts in fact. It takes a very long time for it to occur subconsciously when shot taking. Consequently the competition target game is an excellent training discipline for learning this spacial awareness (for a more advance caster of course). And then I would move...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
There are a number of cues that can be used for positioning the back target in their minds. The first is that the front target and rear target align through the shoulder, for a vertical cast and squared shoulder alignment. The trajectory of the back target can be determined by drawing a straight li...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
Hi Torsten BTW the plane is not constrained for tournaments. As long as you can hit the target and keep the line in the air (no ticking) you can do whatever you like, off-shoulder, curve etc.pp. Usually in training I did this. The plane may be unconstrained but the absence of constraints allows you ...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
The issue…in this thread anyway…is one of lesson sequencing. I think a caster benefits most at the beginning by being able to see their loops front and back. This is, in my view, the best way for them to learn. Once they have learned the basic techniques needed to form a small variety of loops then...
