Re: glass vs graphite
Scott have been making (small) glass rods for years, I own two of them, built at different times (30 years in between or something). One is a 5 piece, the other one is a 3 piece supposed to be made of a different glass grade. It is sanded, not like the 5p one. However they have exactly the same cha...

Re: glass vs graphite
Here is an article about this tackle trend, I'd say it started mid 2000s I’d suggest that more people became aware of glass rods in mid 2000s due to the internet, the fiberglass fly Rodger’s forum was launched by TFM about 2005. However, glass rods were commercially available continuously much earl...

Re: How often do your students practise/train?
The Six Steps for example, will lead to internal cues if we are not careful. I wrote that initially and then deleted it because I thought it would bring on another round of bulging eyes :D. The 6 steps has its place but it’s a mechanistic approach to a system analysis that has a some significant sq...

Re: How often do your students practise/train?
I hope it steps up. Even small details like noticing what the student is paying attention to gives you some clues as to whether they are picking up on the best available information.

Re: glass vs graphite
No worries, I had a couple of discussions in the margins about it. I recognise that we are all fishing in different environments with wide ranging constraints, I’m less concerned with line mass and where it is relative to the fish in pocket water because it’s a noisy environment. My comments were mo...

Re: glass vs graphite
Overlining is putting “ +1 or +2 higher lines on the same rod ”. The reason I don’t like it for fishing purposes is that the heavier line spooks the fish. You can always under-rod then. You won’t spook any fish that way. 😂😂😂😂 Mark, you fish an 18ft leader most of the time, do you teach stude...
