Re: Dangle and cure
On my longer carries I notice a "ticking" of the fly on the surface and what has helped unless coincidentally, is as already mentioned, simultaneously lifting the hand while opening the wrist as paul teaches drift. Rotary drift has appeared to be more beneficial in my casting developments ...

Re: late rod rotation and softer rods
I guess you answered my question then, I'll not contribute my casting flaws to rotating "too late" for the given rod action then, and focus on other parts of my casting stroke.

Fishing actions? ( my preferred choice of action for fishing)

Re: Correcting tailing loops
This is back to the concept of lay back and related to something paul wrote years ago when he was incorporating his " extended drift" technique to handling long lines, In that " flattening" the drift effectively aligns the tip of the rod at the angle of the straightening line in ...

Re: (Not) watching the backcast
I've produced the best results for myself by "not" watching the backcast, I have a closed stance even when I'm trying for distance. I have a similar problem if I turn my head, it throws everything off for me, when I check for tracking issues I just let the line fall behind me and work from...

Re: Drifting styles
Yea I go back and forth, always experimenting. As far as aligning the tip with the unrolling line by "lifting" and then opening the wrist, how does "not" aligning the tip translate to the loop shape? Say I don't lift and just open the wrist, come forward with line above the tip w...
