Re: Fly line hinging/cracking

I’m willing to bet that my perfection loops are on the small side. I’ll try it again tying it substantially larger. Makes a lot of sense! I do like the idea of changing the entire leader out quickly with loop to loop, especially with using the new 8-weight for bass.

Re: Fly line hinging/cracking

It seems the needle or nail knot leader connection to the fly line has better “presentation” when unrolling. I’ve had several welded loops rip using a 25lb. mono perfection loop connections. Would a heavier mono butt section help? Maybe I’m just rough on things.

Re: Gloss vs. Matte finish on rods.

Ah yes, fly line color! I don’t what to think about that argument. I’ll have to look for Mr. Hayes book too. Sounds like a good read.

Also, I didn’t know that the Hot Torpedo rods can come in the matte option. Pretty cool.

Gloss vs. Matte finish on rods.

I know this has come up in conversation on the board before but is there any downsides to a matte finish on rods? I’ve seen times before where the “flash” of a glossed rod would spook fish. I’ve read where they’ve used sandpaper to take the shine off the rod but does this effect casting much? I’ve i...

Re: motorcycle trip

That’s something you don’t see everyday. I usually don’t associate Harleys with European rod trips. I’m a sucker for a hardtail! It does remind me of what my father would say about his Harleys:

“Ride a mile, walk a mile”

Very nice.
