Re: Leader Questions

Hey fellas, apologies for the delayed response. I appreciate all of the feedback. I think I will try to expand my arsenal of different leader materials and try some different, materials with different lines and have a go with them. Also will try to get my hands on a copy of that book by Bruce Richar...

Re: Leader Questions

Hey Paul, I appreciate your feedback, I will have to continue to play around with different formulas and ideas and see. Last night I also ran into a thread on the Saltwater forum talking about butt sections, and I found that to be very interesting as well. They talked about the density differences b...

Leader Questions

Hey everyone, About a month back or so, I was inspired to start tying my own tapered leader formulas. I have experimented with a number of different formulas, and over time have come up with number of different questions. From everything that I have seen, everyone advocates a nice bell curve shape g...

Re: Clear-tip, sink-tip

Hey Onyx, In fact Rio still does currently make a "streamer tip" fly line with a 10' clear (intermediate) tip, with a floating body and running line. I believe this line also comes in a 10' type 6 sinking tip as well. As far as the clear tip lines go, like Lasse said, the O.B.S. does have ...

Re: # 5 Distance and (many) more questions

Hey Paul, thanks for the reply, I am eager to get out here in a few days and take these suggestions and put them into play. I do think that I could use a little more bend in the knees, as you suggested. Not throwing at a specific target necessarily, I am just casting down a prospectors tape that is ...

Re: # 5 Distance and (many) more questions

That’s a great way to put it John, thank you for that and for those words as well. After watching these over video, there is still some small tweaks to work on with this stoke if this length of line. Starting here and then slowly working out I believe will be the best way to go.

Re: # 5 Distance and (many) more questions

Thanks for that advice Ivan. For now, I’ve been working on just single handed PUALD’s (without the haul) out to about 50’ or so, and am trying to work on better loops and carry. Nick recommended I post a few videos of that on here for some feedback, and am open to any advice!! Links.. https://youtu....

Re: # 5 Distance and (many) more questions

Hey lasse, currently trying to throw a DT 5 to work on line carry (currently I’m waiting to get some long belly lines). I have been throwing a rio gold 5 but recently made the switch to a DT after talking with Nick. Hoping to get out today and continue to work on a few things, hopefully by next week...

Re: # 5 Distance and (many) more questions

That’s a great video Mike. I have a number of things to try out this week when I go practice, that grip is definitely one of them. Very interesting about the different grip materials that they use in competition for that reason, so they can keep a loose and relaxed grip. I’ll be sure to keep you guy...
