Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024

Paul, A televised SE Asia competition with an open invite would be great. We need more international tournaments, and in more parts of the world, and more televised tournaments. I believe the Swedes are working on at least having the WC streamed online. We have managed to get every second indoor nat...

Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024

Paul, A separate association would be a disaster and likely kill the sport. It will just increase cost and cause conflict. An international association need proper funding and fully staffed Board and Committees to be able to deliver what we want it to do. Having two associations just creates duplica...

Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024

Hi Nils Good you think its reasonable, I don't :D Cheers Lasse Lasse, what I do not find reasonable is to demand that others are covering the cost for you. So how do you suggest that we can lower the (net) cost for everyone including the tournament host? That is an important discussion that we need...

Re: ICSF WC Flycasting Sweden 2024

Yep, thats 472 euros for participating, gone down 80 from the original proposal. Was 70 but is more due to inflation :D On top comes lodging. Going to be interesting to see how many participate, hope they make the 6 nations needed. Cheers Lasse Lasse, That 5 500 SEK per person includes 6x breakfast...

Re: Line configuration affect on rod

I largely agree with Lasse, rods don’t care, casters do, and you can with today’s rods cast all types of lines on all rods equally well. It’s all a question of preferences, so choose the line that’s best for the task. However, that hasn’t always been the case. Hardy produced a fiberglass rod back in...

Re: How often do your students practise/train?

Bernd can speak for himself of course and I know he’s not enamoured with some of these concepts but I’m sure that, if that’s what he actually wrote, it isn’t what he meant. There are occasions when rapid skill development is exactly what is needed because that’s what brings maximum happiness to the...

Re: The most accurate fly rod

Hi Rickard Nothing :) Spine isn't all its cracked up to be, just turn any rod, and it's clear. The spine is a residue from manufacturing, where the layers of carbon cloth overlap. As soon as rings are put on the blank, it's almost impossible to find the spine. Casting wise, it has no effect, but do...

Re: The most accurate fly rod

So let me ask it this way: Do you think there is such a thing as really accurate rods and such a thing as rods that are not accurate? Or are all fly rods equally accurate? Does the amount of counterflex matter in fly casting accuracy? What about consistency in the way the rod flexes --meaning how s...

Re: Hauling - pulling fly line through the guides

Wow, Some non answers to a simple A or B choice but I can see where I made an error. Maybe this will be better.. Choices are: A) 2 inches (5 cm) or less from the stripping guide. B) more than 2 inches (5 cm) from the stripping guide. Apologies to those who already answered a or B. Walter, It is B f...

Re: Movement Skills Overview

Hi Lasse, I’m definitely an old git. :D Don’t yoo think that humans would learn to walk, run and throw if they weren’t taught? For example Tarzan. He could run, throw, wrestle crocodiles, and he grew up as a man cub. Cheers, Paul Exactly. We are born with a natural ability to throw and walk, and in...
