Re: Making floating hoops

Flathead County in Montana. Ahh, that's a long drive for me. It'll be much faster and cheaper for you to just order off Amazon or slide down to your local hardware store. Better yet: hunt down your local independent plumbing supply store, the wholesaler where all the plumbers shop. Some of them don...

Re: Hello from Colorado

Ahhh....I was actually thinking more about casting than fishing. I've still got a number of buddies up there and plenty of places to go fishing, but I only know a couple people on the Front Range who are serious about casting. I'd love to meet some folks who get out regularly to practice.

Where do you go? My folks still live in Arvada, and I'm going to be spending more time up there sometime soon, I'm sure. I'd love to have a few places to go and people to cast with when I'm in town.

Re: Making floating hoops

Thanks, John. I probably could have gotten the information at the hardware store, but it's such a last minute thing that my head is spinning and the first thing that came to mind was to ask the group of experts. I also have to make posters, and put together handouts for each of the FFI Fly Casting ...

Re: Making floating hoops

Ahhh, you all beat me to it! I've been meaning to post about the targets I've been building recently, but I hadn't gotten around to typing it all up and taking photos. This post was motivation to finish that, so here goes with my current recipe.... PXL_20240111_235002777.jpg 2024-02-15 11_42_49-Phot...

Re: Hello from Colorado

Hey Archie, welcome! I grew up on the Front Range and misspent most of my 20s fishbumming around the Rockies before accidentally winding up on the Gulf Coast of Texas. I spend most of my time in the salt now....and if you're game, I have some questions. Based on your introduction, you're a CI with s...

Re: does balancing a rod have and effect on casting?

We recently had an extended go - that blasted Amazon trip again - with an exceptionally light sample reel, the new Conflux: https://www.confluxreels.com/ The reel is almost entirely CF, and it's extremely light compared to the average reel on the market. At only 105g unlined, it's under half of most...

Re: SLP

And take away the moving water, its similar to my spring fishing from boats in small forest lakes, where I throw poppers under the tree branches to lure out pike. I usually use shootingheads for that. With the exception of a few fairly narrow, twisty (and extremely overgrown) sections where you cou...

Re: SLP

I just like the shot more than the carry, hence the shorter heads. I can respect that. I kinda like the carry just as much as the shot. Can we still be friends? Except that now in addition to your giant blue wall, I'm also jealous of your trip to go chase GTs. When's this happening, and wil...

Guilty as charged....but I don't have the ONE ROD TO RULE THEM ALL yet. If only I knew who to talk with about getting an HT7....
