Re: Is this fly casting?
Phil I couldn’t tell you the difference, if there is a difference between lobbing and casting but what I will say is that video is one of the coolest I’ve seen. Placing your nymph around or between those rocks is in my opinion is really cool. I couldn’t even tell you the difference between euro nymp...

Re: Struggling
Paul, In another forum you mentioned the idea of wrist flailing as a possible cure for a student "struggling" for distance. I consider myself as such a student, and have been all my life. At every stage I have always strived to cast further, and I still do so today. Somewhere along the li...

Re: OSD
Yep!! Worked on the curve and horizontal to vertical loop casts in the afternoon with my 6wt. Very cool stuff Pauly!! I did find it amazingly less difficult to keep line in the air with the 6 after my workout with the 11😎 in fact when transitioning from OSD to 170 I think on one or two of my casts b...

Re: OSD
Milestone today gentleman!! Yesterday and this morning I was blind casting an area where migrating Tarpon travel with my 11wt Asquith paired with SA Infinity. Yesterday I was hitting 100’ when my timing was on. When I muffed it I threw 75-85. This morning that extended 5-7 feet with a couple 110’ th...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?
Gentlemen I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your input. Both nailed it, like a light bulb went off!! To answer your question Gary. The feedback I expect is in my rod hand. I expect to feel the rod load from the weight of the line pulling against it at the same time feeling it in my line hand. U...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?
Stoatstail50 Now that I’ve had my coffee I can elaborate a bit. I’m pretty sure the lack of feedback I get from the rod is what causes me to look especially at my BC. The signal to look is when I don’t feel anything in my hand. It’s then that I’ll make an adjustment to clean up the loop on my next c...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?
Doesn’t matter if you have 40 foot line out or 80 foot of line out. I think I’m beginning to realize that more by visual than by feel. I hope that made sense. Although I’m visual learner, I rely a lot on what I feel when doing physical tasks. Perhaps I need to rely more on my site and less on what ...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?
Gary I’m not sure if this explanation of what I’m beginning to experience/feel is accurate but I’ll try. Paul tells me to feel the line and not the rod loading because I’m casting the line, I think 🤔? I’ve also surmised from what others have eluded to, I need to feel the line not the rod loading and...

Re: Line configuration affect on rod
I never thought so much thought went into this. My adjustments are based on the way my loops look. I really am a “simple man”
