Re: Leader designs
Asari Graeme. Its also available as one of the Tackleworld house brands, same line but I forget what they call it - if I remember I'll let you know. Bloody beautiful stuff but not at the business end, too soft in my view. Dirk we used to use Cortland 50lb Cobra shooting line (for fishing - great stu...

Re: Leader designs
Boisker I use ultra green. Yes its a little stiffer than I would like when its dry but with a good soaking, and use, it becomes much softer. I like it for the range of sizes its available in and for the smaller spools as well. Thomas one of the unseen and often not considered consequences of a coili...

Re: Leader designs
Agree completely with Bruce. I don't like the idea of stiff butts. Some years ago some tarpon guys were advocating stiff butts out of material like Mason and then I saw a slo-mo movie of a fly line with a stiff butt attached and when the loop reached the butt the leader stood up and any fool could s...

Re: Statements that make you go Hmmm? #1
Sure there are casts we can use that are perceived as "stopless" won't help you in the CI and and student we teach to cast like that is going to have issues elsewhere. The stopless cast is a progression, first learn how to stop and then unlearn it later on. And theoretically we are supposed to stop ...

Re: Statements that make you go Hmmm? #1
Theoretically if there was no stop the rod would go round and round and round and round forever.....................otherwise it hits the water/ground/grass and that'll stop it.

Re: Movies of Grant Casting.
And Lars I did note that those stills were taken from a movie. That would be worth tracking down, but I'm sure others have tried.

Re: Accuracy
Do they deduct points for tails and out of shape loops in those comps Lasse?
Carol \/ \\/ \\\/ would be my suggestion but unfortunately I can't alter trajectory on a keyboard. But as Lasse says find what works for you, and allows you to maintain "shape".

Re: Movies of Grant Casting.
You are right Lasse, 65ft with a 21 footer is what was mentioned in the book, I thought I'd read that he'd beaten it some years later. Have you cast a 21 foot rod like these, I'm guessing they were greenheart.
