Re: Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

What has more drag, a full DT 4 or a short belly 4 (really a 6) with very thin runningline behind it? Should be easy to give a ballpark estimate on that one... Cheers Lasse What about mending? Do you mend alot when the fish just spooled you of a full flyline? Cheers Lasse Lasse, I meant mending bef...

Re: Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

Well they sell a lot more lines and have a lot more customers. Customer service is usually always more personal with the smaller manufacturer. I know Josh and Bruce well at SA. I nearly sent them the thread but the first post seemed like a bit of a direct rant at them so I didn’t. (Or haven’t yet)....

Re: Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

Hi, I had the 5wt Thunderbold on the HT4 you were so kind to send along with the rod. There was or still is not $wt Thunderbolt, is there? Thet TB It was too heavy. The Barrio Mallard DT5 and DT4 I have seems spot on for my fishing with the above mentioned rods. I also have to cast pretty long at ti...

Re: Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

I don’t really consider it any more.... I mostly fish 4w’s for trout and grayling .... and have settled on either SA mastery trout or SA DT in a 4w... I keep getting tempted to try the amplitude smooth trout line, but it’s f’ing pricey... but at least I know where I am with all 3 of these, 120 grai...

Re: Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

There is a problem here Thomas and it actually comes back to fishing and not just matching rod to line. Let’s take the example today that Gary writes. https://www.sexyloops.com/index.php/ps/linear-uncertainty Irrespective as to whether the line feels comfortable on this rod (I very much doubt it!) ...

Re: Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

OEM or not ... (most rods aren't "made" by the brand on the stick. Many blanks are made by Maxxia .... ) There is a standard and they don't stick to it. That sucks. However, amreketing seems to work as those working outside the standard seem to sell best. True? ... or am I reading the comments wrong?

Lars FP about the bullhsitting line manufacturers

Well written and very true ... but why does everybody and his grandma seems to conclude that fly lines either need to be made by Rio or SA? These products are useless as the label on the packaging is wrong. Wrong labelling is reason enough for any serious manufacturer to take this batch off the mark...

Yeah, that was fun. I remember you trying to catch a fish and the crazy philosophical discussions we had. ... and I learned that a tip flex rod is crap. :yeahhh:

not new to the board - TZ - a thx to Paul and all

Hi, my name is Thomas Züllich, or TZ for short. I was born 1963 in Koblenz, Germany - a mid size town in the Rhine river valley. It is a rather dense populated area without much nature. By chance and weird coincidences I came to fly fishing rather late around 2002. The bug caught on fully and I appr...
