Re: SA Mastery Standard AFFTA line

Just a small fact.
It is the same taper as the Sharkskin ultimate trout.
I have the Sharskin and on the box are the exact same taper numbers as the Standard.
Great taper!

Re: Overhead Casting Issues

Hi Bendix, I experienced the same as you with a double hander, but had it with every line I used. Funny thing is my experience is the exact opposite as the one Nick described. I had the feeling that a slow backcast caused a sack in the line. This by itself causes the line to pass low. Combined with ...

Re: Recent FP from Paul

Paul. Before we start to go round in circles. Are you not just trying to say that a lighter line is faster? Maybe because of less air resistance. I can believe that up to a certain extend. Just don’t say it is a general rule of thumb in a fishing situation where the weight of the fly line is often d...

Re: Recent FP from Paul

However if you are going heavier in salt for speed then you are going the wrong way :) I still think this is a remarkable conclusion. I can imagine fishing in the salt often includes wind and streamers. The most likely situation seems that someone has trouble overcoming the wind (and thus slower sh...

We will have this conversation again after you’ve spent a week here :D
Sure, but you are in a very specific situation ;)
Honestly, in all your years fishing in the UK, New Zealand, etc - did you ever have to underline because you thought the speed would make a difference?

Re: Recent FP from Paul

I wonder how many more fish you caught because of this faster shots :p Anyway, I never heard someone asking what he should do to get faster shots because he can’t present the fly in time. The advice to get a heavier line because of your fly is much more heard. In the end that also comes down to want...

Re: Recent FP from Paul

Hi Paul, Nice video. It does not surprise me that you can cast the #4 line faster than the #7 on the rod you where using. But let's be honest, you created a situation to backup your statement. Try the same with a big pike streamer and see if you get the same results ;) . The problem I had with your ...

Re: Recent FP from Paul

Hi Mike, Good questions. I (think) I feel the same as you do. To be honest, I think things are being made overly complex. Paul says (and I agree) the order of importance is fly --> fly line --> rod I also fish rio outbound short's for pike fishing and choose this heavy line because it casts my strea...

Re: Sea trout distance rods

I am using the Atomsix ST27 10ft. But you (Paul) found it too soft last time you tried it at a BFCC meeting.
It isn't super stiff in the tip. I would like to try something softer in the bottom section and stiffer in the tip.

Cheers, Bart
