rod accuracy

My apologies, Paul. I'll hunt for it. I've not seen it. Is it a video or one of those graphs? What would be most interesting is the length of your haul, it's start relative to the pull angle on the line, and the concavity it creates in the tip path - if any. I would be surprised if there were none i...

rod accuracy

That's possible Jim. The angle will have to be from above. Maybe I'll have Ashly video from a bridge :) Thanks, Paul! It's always fun to puzzle out whether you are engaged in obfuscation or just beverage-induced dingbattery. ;>) Chris, thank you for the reply, but it was not necessary. Your replies...

Paul Arden wrote:Hi Daniel,

My backcast haul is better and I think it does accelerate to an abrupt stop.

Cheers Paul
Think? THINK ????? (:>)

How about getting somebody with a a slow motion video camera or smart pad to take a video Paul? Then post it up so we'll all know. Yes?

Cheers,
Jim

rod accuracy

If I'm correctly understanding the original 2 questions asked in post #1, the logical answer regarding what WJC has read about in ‘rod review shootouts’, has to do with how deep a test line is BENDING a particular rod at a given target distance, given the tester's stroke mechanics and ability to ad...

rod accuracy

There are two techniques used by accuracy casters to hit targets. One is that shown by Steve Rajeff where the caster sights the fly by following the loop to the target and then have the fly "appear" over the hoop. Two, is only seeing the target, and have the fly "appear" over it. John Thanks John. ...

rod accuracy

Oh. Having never competed or practiced accuracy simply for accuracy's sake, I didn't know that's how everyone does it. And I can see how a slightly softer rod would likely be a bit easier.

rod accuracy

Paul, I was watching a youtube video of Steve Rajeff at a competition linked to below to see what he does, then went outside and tried it. For the salt fishing I like best, and which has disappeared from my area years ago, that kind of accuracy is down to about #4 in priorities as far as catching fi...

rod accuracy

Thanks everyone for confirmation that I have not missed out on some critical information for my entire life. A couple years ago I did a CCS ERN on a beast of beasts rod a friend gave me that took the equivalent weight (in a bucket of water hung from the tip) of 277 pennies to bend the specified amou...

rod accuracy

I hear about "rod accuracy" at various distances on these rod review shootouts. What would make a rod accurate at 60 feet and inaccurate at 30 feet?

How can a rod that's comfortable to cast contribute to inaccuracy at certain distances within its comfortable casting range?

Thanks,
JIm

...:a thrust at the end of the stroke generates an order to the rod like "you must bend backwards", which helps killing the counterflex. It feels like on long forward casts, I am trying to time the late translation (thrust) , rotation, and haul to try to chase the unloading of the rod all the way t...
