Re: Maintaining line tension

The CCI exam has PULD on it. Task #16 asks you to teach (and perform it). But I totally agree that it is completely different on water than on land. On water, you can see the line "waterfall out of the honey," and the water provides adequate tension to actually feel it as you lift. Doing on grass, ...

Re: Tracking ... tracking ... tracking

There does seem to be rather a lot of people casting with the wind nowadays :D Me personally I’m not impressed with anything that is wind assisted. I feel like I’m in a minority here but that’s not going to change. That’s just a case of who has the biggest wind  Cheers, Paul Flyfishing, the ...

Re: PUALD Challenge

Ok, second try, this is seriously a hard challenge :D
Slight improvement since last try, but far far far from being away from the bottom here. 37,5 meters or 123plus feet. So much to improve on!

Re: A near encounter today.

Hi Tony Nice cool story :) Leadcore lines can be a PIA to cast, thats for sure! If you get the itch again, try using something like the seatrout gear we use in the international competitons like the worlds. It's a floating head of max 27 grams, and it will go quite far in the right hands. https://vi...

Re: Loose grip no squeeze stop?

I must say, the amount of detail involved in fly casting is amazing. I’ve never seen a discussion about using spinning gear or baitcasting rods and reels anywhere near this level. Back to the discussion... I don’t recall having seen or read anything about the Joan Wulff “sponge grip”. Is this anyth...

Re: Tracking ... tracking ... tracking

Lasse- Impressive tracking with the chicken to avoid hitting yourself in the back of the head. I'm afraid I had to revert to more of a tilted rod to avoid a trip to the emergency room when casting my epoxy shrimp fly. Paul, I have not tried a shooting head yet. Here is a pic of a couple flies...htt...

Re: Tracking ... tracking ... tracking

Did you also measure the frequency? And yes I’ll need to migrate the CCS table over. It probably will mean doing it by hand. I haven’t had the time :) I’m not sure I would call +1ERN a “noodle” Mind you this was 25 years ago. Technology has changed a little and perceptions a lot. And fly lines are ...
