Re: Lock down days!

Hey Mark!

This lock down thread can be whatever we want it to - doesn't have to be fly fishing related :-). Now that you say it, I actually think the wood I got from Piffen was jarra. Brown, very hard, not highly figured, seems quite oily?

Piffen - was it jarra?

Re: Lock down days!

Piffen - I started cutting a piece off that wood yesterday, just with a handsaw. I quickly gave up and ordered that bandsaw I've wanted to years. Christ, that's hard wood :-).

Re: Lock down days!

Just for the record - if, and I underline if, I were to stock pile anything, it certainly wouldn't be loo paper (I can stick my arse under the shower - most people can't it seems), nor will it be canned food or dried spaghetti. Nope - dishwashing soap, dammit - imagine having to wash up manually aft...

Re: Lock down days!

Mark - gardening is out of the question here as our dump sites are also closed :-). I'll be tying flies and probably begin restoration work on a friend's kitchen knife as well. Piffen sent me some very nice chunks of wood that'll yield several knife handles, so I'll use that for the first time.

Re: Indicator Fly / Indicator with a hook

A Klinkhamer doesn't float - it hangs in the surface film on the parachute hackle, so it cannot, as you've experienced, support weighted flies. Adding buoyant materials materials above the hackle doesn't help as they're not in contact with the water. They are of course very light, which doesn't harm...

Lock down days!

I thought we could start sharing what we do if we're in any state of lock down. Here in Denmark, many workplaces have been shut down and most are operating on minimum personnel. We're advised to stay home and only go out for shopping, the pharmacist and if one needs to get in contact with the health...

Re: Air Sculpting

I quite often listen to music when practicing - anything from Stravinskij to progressive heavy metal :-). And as Paul knows very well, I'm a HUGE Zappa fan and I have been for 30 years. I very nearly went to Germany to attend the premiere of "The Yellow Shark" in my middle high school year, but I co...
