Re: Loop morph & water tension

Hi Gordy Dirk, Could you point out where the initial bump occurs and then sequence of shapes where it morphs into an overtaking loop? What does it overtake? Here you go, Gordy bump morph_1.jpg The shape's traces are in yellow, showing the evolution from a quite subtle initial bump. Best regards, Dirk

Re: Loop morph & water tension

OK I think there is something more interesting going on here and I would like to try to understand it. Hi Paul It's now off your original question but I have been puzzled by exactly that occurance, an initial bump morphing into an overtaking loop. I have very similar footage. I believe it is exactl...

Re: Echo MPR double haul kit

Nice!

Nic, can you film the same length of overhang, but the forward casts (similar view angle but from front)?

All the best,
Dirk

Re: 180 "tails".

Hi Peter I am not an instructor, so these views may be way presumptuous - I just wonder if there may be any better way than to cement in a set of foundation parameters which are subject to revision on further development, or when confronted with different approaches. "Short cast, narrow arc&quo...

Re: 180 "tails".

To me, 180 is a nice to have rather than a must have. Such as "a forward/back cast goes more efficiently when the line is pre set straight and directly opposite to its cast direction". Without necessity for the bend/waypoint as Paul mentioned. But then, so are the 5 essentials, generalised...

Re: 180 "tails".

Hi Paul That's a good point, and may be correct. The flip side of that argument may also hold - if the after-the-stroke movement on the forward casts did not drift the rod leg into the wave's path, the legs may not have intersected, the waves already having been aggravated by stroke acceleration spi...

Re: 180 "tails".

Peter, I understand the point about intermediate casters more likely making a <180 cast into your B <180 or closed loop than not. Thing is, if one can make or avoid them at will by adapting the stroke to either slant on the differences I pointed out, then the issue is the stroke and the drift afterw...

Re: 180 "tails".

Hi Peter I was curious about the forward and backward stroke differences leading to the different results, so traced all of them on Tracker. Morsie closed 180s tip paths.jpg The main differences in my view were: 1) A spiking acceleration on the forward strokes (where FC3 action is at time of the sna...
