Practicing curves/presentation casts
Cheers Guys I've generally had a 12-14' tapered leader finishing round 4x (any less than 4x seems to catch the grass more), so I'll reduce it down to 8', I often use tag of wool, but currently using a size 14 hook with the bend cut off, yellow deer hair with a bright pink collar. I have found it tri...

Practicing curves/presentation casts
Quick question... I've been trying to get out and practice curve casts and other presentation casts...
I usually fish a 4w, but practice with either a 4w or 6w... is there any benefit from either weight whilst trying to initally 'master' curve casts?

What do you call it?
Jeez, there's a lot of info on the site, I've spent ages looking at it and still keep missing bits I've been looking for... the link you posted above Paul, led me to looking at the left hook puddle and low and behold in the corner of the page is a list of other curve casts!! Hallelujah I've spent ag...

That's looks a stunning spot Neil... I've caught barbel as a youth in my coarse fishing days, chunk of luncheon meat ledgered loosely to the bottom... about 8lb was my largest... went like a train, even more so in the strong current on the lower River Ribble. I'd love to catch one on the dry, I've s...

Tips for crisping up the back cast
Hey Neil Someone far more knowledgeable will be along shortly, but my two penneth worth... I went to a casting day that Vince invited me along to a couple of weekends ago, the main thing one of the instructors (Rob) mentioned was to slow down my backcast.... my pickup and acceleration was just a bit...

Paul.... the world championships are in Cumbria 2018?. What month?
I'd love to make it up, I find watching great casting is a fantastic way to pick up the nuances involved, makes far more sense than any verbal description to me. I could perhaps tie it in with a day on the Eden as well

Practice tips
Hey Neil I've certainly found that my practice is far more productive if I don't spend to long on the whole practice session and the individual aspects within the session. I've found 40 mins is about the maximum for me, broken down further by practicing individual casts for say 5-6 mins; realistical...

[quote="Walter"]I think this thread is too serious. Here's something to lighten it up. I think there needs to be a registry for people who can do this. It gets interesting around 1:00. Cheers!
