Buoyant nymphets on rivers
Some years ago Steve Thornton did a buoyant caddis pupa using nymph skin to create a void within the abdomen. It needs to be on a largish hook to work properly, something like a size 12. Would that be of any use. You could put foam on the hook shank to fill the void. It may be a bit more robust but ...

Legal marijuana use? Amazing!
Just read an interesting thought. marijuana and gay marriage legalised on the same day. Maybe we have been interpreting Leviticus wrongly.. "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman he should be stoned."

Favourite Hi Viz parachute wing post?
If you think about the position of the wing on a parachute fly while it is on the water the wing doesn't come into contact with the water. For that reason I don't see any need for a specifically buoyant material for this. So while Aero Wing is very nice it is rather wasted in this use. Unless you in...

Thread for Small Flies?
Hans W. showed me a trick a few years ago which works well.
He uses two strands teased from a spool of gel spun polypropylene, twisted together and wound onto an empty spool. Its very fine and much stronger than the really fine threads.

You are welcome to use the picture.
Just one thing. I'm Alan not Craig! Crackaig was where I lived and named my site after it.

Re: Glass?!
Can't argue technicals, don't know.
What I would say is that you, like me, probably go fishing because you enjoy it. If you get more pleasure doing it with one kind of rod over another then that's what you should use.

Re: Leaders, how and why
I did this a while back to illustrate my set up with a floating line for loch style fishing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/AlanBithell/becdd339.jpg Way back we had a debate about the "superglue connection". Well I used it all last season and it was superb. Having inspected the con...
