Re: Low Stretch cores, are they another marketing scam?

When they brought out the non stretch core in the mid 80’s, Powergum became the thing to use. It’s like WTF?

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

I did mention this to Nick and would have loved to have a conversation about this because I use it differently and I think it’s better, for my use at least. I understand Nick coaches strength training whereas we are less interested in the capacity to do work ie “is the athlete strong enough?” as muc...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Hi Torsten,

I don’t think that changes the pattern, but where we apply force in the pattern does change.

Cheers, Paul

Re: Does 6 inches matter

Hi Vincente, French Nymphing rods are usually 10’ or so for this reason! I don’t know how they label some of them 4WT however because the ones I’ve cast have really been 8WTs!! But since the flyline rarely sees the tip ring if ever, then it doesn’t matter!! 10’6 and even longer rods used to be very ...

I think beer would work better than a Mars bar. It does for me anyway.

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Hi Mark, If they don’t practise then I will not see improvements, simple as that. In fact most of the lesson won’t even be retained. I think most of us would be extremely alarmed to meet the student again two weeks later, and would probably wish we hadn’t  A quick search on learning to drive ...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

Sure. But something like the Danish Games but with a variable course format would work for you. If you set something like that up at the BFCC I’d certainly enter when over. I’d train for it too, which is the whole point. I’d love to see a whack-a-mole type competition but it’s not very applicable to...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons

There is a lot in there, Vince. My principle reason is for skills development. For me it has a direct benefit on the reason I do anything, which is to go fishing. Very similar to triathlon actually. I’m not there to compete against anyone. I’m there because it makes me train. That in turn affects my...

Tor

I was shocked to get a message from Lee just now that Tor has died. https://www.facebook.com/share/rGKj8xmpLPcs4rL2/?mibextid=WC7FNe I always thought he would live a very long life. One of the best casters and being beaten by him in the WCs in Norway, in the same conditions, was very inspiring to me...
