Re: One size fits all reel?

Hi Alan,

Personally, i like the reels to balance the rod when it's strung up and at rest (i.e holding the rod when fishing).

All the best

Re: Why to choose a rod?

Hi Alan, Nice to see you on here and welcome to the board! Sorry to hear that you have been stuck indoors, it would drive me crazy i think. Nice job getting the MPR, i need a new leader for mine. I am considering buying a new rod. But should I? I'm probably not the best person to ask about bu...

Re: Sage R8 Core

Would you say they are more tippy than the X? The #5 X was a bad distance rod, perfectly fine for fishing, though.

Re: Maintaining vertical plane in OSD

How far are you looking to cast, Jarmo? You can cast a very long way with a closed accuracy technique (Tracy for example) :)

Re: Rio low stretch lines

Hi Graeme,

Waste end of a nail knot for the backing end, and cutting off an old needle nail knot at the front.

That would make sense, i thought they were more difficult to cut than my other lines (i usually use abel nippers or fly tying scissors)

Rio low stretch lines

Hi All,

After swapping a line over to my Rio SHS (it's been in the drawer for a long time) i forgot just how hard it can be to cut! Do these lines have a steel core inside the dacron or something? It's bizarre.

Re: Old SA sharkskin chainsaw

That's a good question, i have a #8 sharkskin but i don't have enough experience with them to make an informed answer. I do like the sound, though.

Re: The Predicament of Buying the Right Fly Line

Don’t tell anyone this Gary, but I also like the Redfish. In fact I was so impressed with it I wrote to Bruce about it. Josh then sent me a prototype of the Infinity which I also like very much :D The vast majority of my shots here are one backcast, no falsecasting. Mostly I sneak up and get close ...

Re: The Predicament of Buying the Right Fly Line

Hi John,

Are you designing lines? That would be fascinating, and i'd love to try one if you do. Well done on the WC by the way, it's a shame i couldn't go to this one, hopefully, we'll cast together in Sweeden (or if you visit the UK anytime)

Re: The Predicament of Buying the Right Fly Line

Is that advice aimed at ensuring that they can fish with fine tippets and small flies? :D I found the video, it took a while! https://youtu.be/sLjSvpMrifE I completely agree, Morsie, that's one of my favourite Mel K quotes. There are exceptions, for example, you wouldn't recommend a long belly #5 t...
