How to cast a pointed loop?
I had a question yesterday from a HT purchaser about how to cast a pointed loop?
How would you answer that?
Thanks,
Paul

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?
Well they certainly went the other way with the One, but too far IMO. It’s an interesting company. It’s driven by marketing really and the necessity of bringing out a new rod every 5 years or so, and then trying to find ways to justify it. It’s not possible to make a better rod every five years, if ...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
I agree Mark, but that’s not typically what I see. I don’t see instructors training variable and blocked practise for their tasks. I see them typically only training the tasks blocked. * And then no doubt this then leads them to coach this way too. Cheers, Paul *edit: as I pointed out earlier I enco...

It’s fine when you are sponsored and all you have to do is train. But when it costs you 5 grand plus two weeks of potential earnings, then it’s quite a large pill.

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
Totally. Very interesting book. Thanks for that, Vince. Thoroughly interesting pages on practise and well as feedback. Totally destroys the idea that any sort of hands-on teaching is a good idea for learning. You might get fast results but they are lost immediately afterwards. Also installs the idea...

Re: Structuring multiple lessons
Ah. Shea and Morgan 1979. While the blocked practise resulted in better results than the random practise group during acquisition, the random practise group had better retention and produced a better score than the blocked practise group 10 days later, even when the retention test was blocked. Page ...

Mental Practice
Out of curiousity, for students who have limited access to outdoor casting time, maybe they have weather or time constraints, does anyone suggest that they practise the mental imagery of casting? Or is this something that you have tried suggesting even when they have access to the great outdoors? Or...

Re: line lubricants vs
If I make $10/bottle, which would be very high, especially with bottles and labels, so more like $5 but we’ll call it $10, and assuming the WCs costs me $5000 (the US team are budgeting more than this but I could sleep under someone’s car, or on the beach) then I only need to sell 500 bottles. On av...

Re: OK... Rod configuration effect on the line?
Hi George, Yes I totally agree with that too. We can certainly manipulate the rod leg after the loop has formed. We can tighten the loop, open the loop, sharpen the loop and so on. Hi Gary, It’s very much easier to manipulate the loop with some rods than others. If the rod is completely rigid, it’s ...
