Re: Single handed distance roll casting
Greetings all. But most casters start with a low rate of acceleration. That's were differences can be made. Macauley and I had a talk about his tailing loop video and agreed on all points. Again you are right, he is very open-minded. Good point to mention his video not being made for max possible di...

Re: Single handed distance roll casting
Greetings all. An explanation of the original iss why the fly kicks high and opens the loop which is due to faulty technique is provided in the "Essence of Fly Casting" video by Mel Kreiger, at about the 11.5 minutes. Good point, looked it up, here it is, with two explanations: https://www...

Re: What do you need to know.
Greetings all! Great discussion, keep it going. Is this a prelude to the following? Train the Trainer on January 28! The Continuing Education Committee invites you to “Train the Trainer,” a program that reviews and puts in perspective the important things instructors need to know and understand when...

Re: Single handed distance roll casting
Greetings Lasse, I would greatly appreciate one more piece of information: Which line were you using? And the line in all the clips, is a 5 weight scientific anglers MED comp version. Thanks, I just wanted to understand that what I was seeing in the video was not related to a shorter head. I really ...

Re: Single handed distance roll casting
Watching this excellent video in slow motion, it looks to me that rotation is delayed only in the delivery forward cast. Would the artist and/or others agree? If you look at some of my other clips, there's delayed rotation, or a try to, even on the false casting and the backcast when the line gets ...

Re: Single handed distance roll casting
Greetings Bernd! Watching this excellent video in slow motion, it looks to me that rotation is delayed only in the delivery forward cast. Would the artist and/or others agree? The longer the stroke and the wider the arc, the more impact it has, to position the rotation at the right time (towards the...

Re: Teaching Spey
Greetings all! One was the sweep on the single spey. The few books and fewer video disks at that time could not agree on whether to dip or not. The Sweep is indeed a problemchild of the single spey. That litterature can't agree is nothing new, and that wether or not you should dip depends on several...

Re: Teaching Spey
Greetings all. So I said "Every time I have to tell you to start with the rod tip touching the water its going to cost you $2......" At the end of the hour I took $30 off him, but he stopped. Learning is sometimes connected directly to your wallet. Economics in practice. :) I think that th...

Re: Single handed distance roll casting
Greetings all. You teach correctly, rotation makes the speed. there is a lot of research to prove that in other sports. I teach the same, rotation does make the speed. Out of curiosity: do you have a similar summarising statement for translation? Hi Jarmo, My apologies; but are you referring to han...
