Hi Vinny
Rods don't care, casters do.
35 feet and 50 feet, if they weigh the same, also have to be equally straightish in the air to give similar feedback. Rarely that happens. The shorter the head the more of the weight is usually at the casters disposal. Hence the difference in feel.
Cheers
Lasse

Pauls socks aren't scented, they are classified as a chemical weapon. Poor fishCarol wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 1:27 pmI thought scenting flies was not kosher.Paul Arden wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 5:44 pm I’m going to produce some fly tying videos. ... I’ll definitely tie some flies using socks.

Re: Unproven
When is a pattern a new pattern? Adding a different colour hacke to a woolly bugger, is that a new pattern? There's a ton of grey area, and apperantly some very strict rules, where the only penalty is outing on the net... Gary, if the fly is big and brown and looks crippled, it will probably work fo...

Re: Question for the FFI MCI mentors and examiners
It's about a task being impossible as written. Amazing that that is so hard to understand! I don’t think that’s hard to understand. What is hard to understand is that, if you’ve had some sort of acknowledgment that there will be some changes to the task as a consequence of your previous comments, a...

Re: Question for the FFI MCI mentors and examiners
Hi Lasse, just curious, is this task impossible because you can't measure the size or because you can't create the stated loop size? How do they measure the size? Video analysis? Feet to fluff means much less then 50ft fly line? Greetings, Torsten Hi Torsten Its impossible for me, because I can get...

Re: Question for the FFI MCI mentors and examiners
Hi Mark Again, no answers to my questions. Yeah, commitee chair told me that, about the wording, right before you suddenly contacted me on the matter, that I had only spoken to the commitee chair about. Sorry if it seems a bit rude. You did keep radio silence for 6 months prior, so it seemed quite o...

Re: Question for the FFI MCI mentors and examiners
Hi Mark I love how my questions are never answered, and since you state that you will not test a MCI again, this thread really isn't for you, I asked to see a clip, you say no one measures anyway, and that wanting the requirements of the test upheld is not happening in real life. This is what the te...

Re: Question for the FFI MCI mentors and examiners
How do you measure 7'11" ? You just told me no one measures... I can’t measure it…don’t know anyone who can. If I could I’d have to be some sort of nit picking sociopath to fail someone who was casting an inch under 8’. I wouldn't fail anyone casting 2,5 cm under the requirement, wouldn't be a...
