Spey vs Salmon Rod

Hi James

My mistake, read overhead as overhang
I use the same as I wrote, the last couple of comps someone elses as I have a shortage of 15 footers. Word of advice don't leave them on the roof of the car after practice, the next car might run them over
Most speyrods I have tried for comp spey, works great for overhead too, they should anyway, shouldn't they?

Cheers
Lasse

I don't think stiffer and stiffer works so well for Spey casting. Are you entering in the next Worlds, Lasse? I still haven't yet found a rod :)

Cheers, Paul

To me, this rod has a little bit too much flex. It's a 15ft #10 wt Spey rod. I'd prefer something with a bit more stiffness lower down for the overhead.

Cheers, James
If i get back driving I might just gett my 15ft Loomis out for this event ,thats if I can borrow a line ,
that rod needs most of a 40yd #11 to really work it with a spey cast !
Be very interesting to see how it works overhead .beware i might just get Steve Morris involved ,he has just bought a 15 ft Sage

Sounds like the Loomis could be perfect, could I try it too? Yes, you can definitely borrow a line - I'm trying to determine which head works best also.
