ST27 - where to start?

Oke, I am going to the WC in Norway.
I would like to compete in more than only the 5 weight.
So the ST27 is my only option, because I can't handle a double hander.

Now I don't have a clue where to start. I don't have a single handler heavier than a #6.
I can of course start with a barrio line. But man, what rod do I start with?
It's a bit expensive to start buying rods and see which one works best.
I hear people talk about 10weight rods.

I know it's all very subjective. But is there a rod that is a bit in the middle with which I can start?
Any help would be welcome. I probably have a lot more questions in the coming weeks.

Watch out guys! I will be coming back stronger then ever :yeahhh:

Hi Bart,

I was using a factory built Orvis Access 912 for long enough and that really suits me, fast, stiff enough but not too much of a poker and very light. ERN 14.7 / AA 72

Cheers

No worries Bart. I may be there if my casting in enough events is any good without too much work and there are enough pennies in the bank come August. I'm really needing to get some serious fishing time in this year which will leave me little time for practice. I will only really be working on 27g and 18' Spey.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Bart

There's also precision you know ;)

I know Ben likes the pokers, I'm more mellow, and use the Echo 3 896 :D ERN 9,9 and AA 72

Cheers
Lasse

Ah yeah, there is also precision.
Maybe I should compete in that. Let me think... No I wont
I don't have the patience for that and find practicing it pretty boring.

I will have a look at those echo rods. I probably don't need a 10ft, since I am not that strong.

I cast further with the 9'6 than the 10 footer, same problem :D

And the 10 footer might not be legal...
