Hello everyone,

I'm a 57-year-old fisherman from upstate NY, on the southeastern border of the Adirondack Park.

I've been fly fishing for a long time for various species, fresh and salt water. Though I've been at it a long time, I was self-taught and live in a rural area without much exposure to other fly fishermen. I have lots of hobbies so fly fishing doesn't get as much of my time as I'd sometimes like. I have been making an annual trip to Cape Cod for stripers for 24 years.

I would consider myself a mediocre caster... I do well enough to enjoy success fishing, but would like to improve. I'm hoping I can un-learn some bad form and tune up my casting.

I'm looking forward to participating here!

Tight lines,
Bob

Hi Bob,

That's fantastic and welcome to the Board!!
Have you discovered this section yet: http://www.sexyloops.com/flycast/

The keys to practise as the four main disciplines; accuracy, distance, presentation casts and Speys.

Hope you're having a nice Spring

Cheers Paul

G'day Bob
Welcome to the Board from Oz. Motorcycles wouldn't be one of those other hobbies would they? :D

Cheers

You're right, Mark,

I play around with a bike I bought new back in 1995. It's a Ducati 900SS SP. I also have a basket case 1969 Triumph Daytona chopper in the back of the garage, waiting for me to get REALLY motivated....

Tight lines,
Bob

Thanks for the welcome, Paul, and thanks for your help getting me going here on the forum. I will certainly be reading through the flycast section in an attempt to hone my skills! It is starting to feel like Spring is arriving here. I've been on the local rivers catching some trout and, in less than a month, I'll be waist-deep in the saltwater, casting for striped bass. Hopefully, I'll find time to get the lawn mowed when necessary in between fishing outings! ;-)

Tight lines,
Bob

I haven't mowed my lawn for about three years. I now have someone who comes around with a scythe every 12 months and feeds it to... some animal that he has.

SW - there are some good tips in the disatance and comp distance pages in that section.

Right, I'm off to nail some fish :)

Cheers, Paul

Too many hobbies, not enough time (or money!)... That's my story.
