Have you asked Ulrik? I think he might already have even better data than just two cameras on this....

Hi Graeme

Data in post #13 have nothing to do with TLT. The « casts » use an input similar to one of Paul’s 170 competition cast.

Hi Vince

Ths quoted speeds correspond to the maximum tip speed obtained with the same input (and include a strong haul), they occur some 25 ms to 40 ms before RSP, as can be expected.

Hi Lasse

I sent the same documents to Ulrik some 18 months ago but he did not propose some records, maybe just because the information required for a comparison did not exist.

Hi Daniel

Ulrik discusses line and tip measurements as a later development, so it appears that he doesn’t have any data. Has the rod tip come off the SLP at 25-40 mS before RSP?

Hi Vince

Here is the same illustration when using the tip speed at the time when the vertical tip speed peaks. That should correspond to your question I think:

As you can see there is a downwards shift in values, but the general pattern remains the same.

Considering the hint of experimentation he has done in the last 12 months, I would not say that with certainty.

Hi Daniel

Thank you but I was looking at where the tip deviates from the SLP, so I guess it would be where the vertical speed changes from zero.

Aging is no good, you know Vince.

The graphic corresponds to the zero point in vertical tip speed, the peak takes place earlier.

I don’t know why I said that stupid thing, maybe because I looked too much at the speed histories.
