Cheers,

Streamers: Favorite fly and technique (trout)
This has become my main trout large streamer,
Streamer hook (it's a big one)
Tie in and glue heavy eyes
Leaded
Thread: orange or white (I've run out of strong orange thread!)
Tail: bunch of goat or horse hair to prevent wing wrap.
Body: chartreuse chenille
Rib: thick copper
Bottom bunny strip: Olive
Top bunny strip: White (yes I know it's upside down, but this way I can see it and it's FAR more interesting to fish, and the fish don't care).
I put a little dab of glue between the hair and the top bunny strip.
Will post the others later - they're on the site somewhere!
Cheers, Paul

I tied this one yesterday by the way, and some of the Russian guys I was with thought it was too big! Fish of a pound will eat a four inch streamer. I've read that fish will eat prey items of up to 1/3rd their length or 1/10th their weight. They will actually do more than this, but I think they will comfortably do this.

I always mean to fish more with streamers but never get round to doing it.
I think i will go out with only streamers and a slightly heavier rod for a few sessions and see what happens

What I like about streamers is you can fish a lot of water very quickly, you get a good idea of what's in the river, and the casting and fishing is great fun. Contrary to what many people who don't do it believe, good streamer fishing technique is highly technical.
It's not a last resort however, which is how many people use it. Instead there are times when streamer fishing is really first choice. Late summer evenings, summer nights, early summer mornings, and the back end would be my preferred time. Sometimes getting a big fly down at any time of day will get a surprising result, but it's not optimal time and there are usually other options available that are peaking!
