Currently happening - WFFC 2013 in Norway .... many are sceptical about such events. I was sort of but am even more now after having read this article - NO organisation promoting fishing, let alone flyfishing should corporate with companies producing farmed salmon.

This is just sad.

Hi,

I saw this yesterday when it was published on the WFCC website. My comment about this on my Facebook page got an interesting reaction from Jim Nerdal, one of the WFCC officials.

No idea what that means, but that's a major blunder IMO. I wonder if it's the hosts (Norway) making that sponsorship decision or the governing body? In either case it's an absolutely shocking decision.

Can we get a translation of the Norwegian petition please?

Thanks, Paul

I think it is a good idea to contact the participants. I guess we all know one at least. They are maybe not fully aware that they are used to promote a salmon farming company.

The timing of the nova sea press release leaves room to speculate. To me it looks like they waited on purpose until the event had started. I suspect that a good percentage had not wanted to go to this championship if the nova sea sponsorship had been published before.
