... Fly fishing of course ;)

What are your favourite magazines? I subscribe to two monthly mags and two quarterly mags and, until this evening when the latest edition of Fly Life arrived :yeahhh: I had run out of stuff to read and was getting anxious.

Still got some books to read, but I need something a bit more light weight.

So what magazines do you really like, above all others?

Cheers

Fly fishing and Fly Tying! Flylife is a great magazine too. Also I like some of the writers in Trout Fisherman and T&S. I get little opportunity to see the US ones at the moment.

I have probably not bought a fly mag in about 2 years as I for the most part find them dull, repetitive and full of adverts, but agree with Paul that FF&FT is probably the best in the UK.

I do however like the Drake (not that I can get it here in Scotland), and a few of the ezines like "this is fly" (which currently has an article on Asp).

FF&FT is my favourite UK mag. Not seen This is Fly. Looks good. Thanks for that :)

Heard about The Drake, but not read it. Will have a look :)

thanks for the tip. i'll look it up ! :)

to get back to your topic, apart from when actual friends are either writing or are in the article i don't find interest in any of the ff mags i've ever read. i want to learn, to be able to have communication with the writers and not have some far-away fish shot up close with a wide-angle lens to make it look bigger shoved in my face. paying for something that's full of ads makes me feel stupid...

cheers,
marc

The Euronymphers :p

havent bought one recently , but usualy i found some good stuff articles in UK and American mags. Mags were helpful back in the days when I started and there was no internet , no one in flesh around to show me stuff and i have no idea which books to read to learn better. Back in the days the layout of T&S made me realise that flyfishing is about aesthetics too, an art form of fishing.

I'm buying up old copies of Fly Life at the moment. There are some good articles in them and the writing/editing is of reasonable quality. (Not like some of the other local rags on conventional fishing - they are shockers!)

I wouldn't pay full price though, mainly for the same reasons mentioned above. The internet has plenty of searchable current information and offers the ability to interact with people who contribute information. Print magazines are an anachronism now.

Cheers,
Graeme
