Article on Thomas Whiting and Whiting Farms

Ask an everyday angler and he’ll likely tell you that part of the allure of fly-fishing is the challenge of figuring out which store-bought fly in his box will catch a trout’s eye. But ask an avid angler and she’ll probably say the challenge begins well before she ever hits the river, when she’s selecting the materials she’ll use to design her own new fly patterns.
My italics. WTF? Why is the novice angler a male and the "avid angler" - whatever that means - a mermaid?

Cheers, Paul
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

Just a person trying to be inclusive by alternating pronouns in an article. I don't think there was any thought put into which gender gets assigned which level of skill.

Personally, I think it's better to use a neutral pronoun like "they" in that situation.

Cheers,
Graeme

This genetic hackle business is weird ... period. It'll be easier to accept it if the rest of the bird would be used too. In principle I see not much difference to fur farms really.

... OK - go and get the stones ;-)

P.S. - how does embedding vids work???

P.S.S. --- I'm guilty as well. I own two genetic capes.

I read somewhere that the hackle on the birds were becoming so long that Whiting had to start breeding for longer legs so the hackle tips would not drag on cage bottoms.
