Graeme

I was looking at RIO general purpose tropical SW line, with intermediate tip to the new RIO line. The tapers vary, not sure how they will cast, but I'm sold on trying the F/I line nevertheless.

Cheers

One line weight heavier? That's ridiculous.
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.

That's Riodiculous!

This is what we've come to in this marketing race to the heaviest lines and stiffest rods.

Still leaning towards the RIO general purpose line, I'm liking the head profile.

Not sure that's the proper point to blame :)
Your friendly neighbourhood flyslinger

Flycasting, so simple that instructors need to make it complicated since 1685

Got a Q++ at casting school, wearing shorts ;)

It's just nonsense. One line weight heavier. WTF?

Yes, at least they say it ... however - it´s not helping much. Complete bolony as one can almost never testcast it before buying. Imagine you have to buy a pack of cream with the marking "sort of quarter of a liter - more like just enough for your cake"

I reckon it's partly due to the fact that they are making their heads ever shorter. To get a decent casting mass from their short heads, they need to make the first 30' heavier. Sure, they spin it as "loading modern rods more quickly", but it comes back to their main demographic being unable to cast well.

So why are they making their heads shorter? Is it because some people are too lazy to learn/practice carrying enough line to cast well?

Cheers,
Graeme
