BIG FIVE to choose YOUR fly rod
Hi everyone,
after reading quite some tackle tests lately, I was wondering what everyone of you understands as the five most important key categories to compare fly rods in for making a decision which one to choose/buy?
Thanks
Bernd

hi Bernd,
the most important is fast tip recovery. all the rest comes secondary.

marc
ps- anything with REC titanium guides is automatically rejected !

Is it 'nano' enough?
Is it reassuringly expensive?
Is it a nice colour?
How insistent are the sales reps that it's better than the previous one?
Is the font size on the tube large enough?

I can't buy another rod until we get to the bottom of 'Rod Loading - Spring v Lever' on the old board; don't want to look foolish in a few weeks having one that isn't bendy enough!

Good question....
1. Stiff enough overall
2. Light enough overall
3. Cheap enough overal
4. Make me smile more than the one I already have for that kind of fishing
5. This is the new board, there is no 5......
Cheers

I had the same question in mind and a second one as well:
How do you measure or judge or just get an idea about recovery speed when comparing rods in the shop?
Or do you get the info elsewehere?
Thanks
Bernd

Cool logo, everything else is obsolete
Do or do not, there is no try
BIG FIVE to choose YOUR fly rod
1. I have to think that there is no better rod for the intended use out there.
2. Action matching to the kind of fishing I want to do with it.
3. Swing weight, especially in higher line classes.
4. Recoils or at least thin wire snakes.
5. Should look nice. If it fulfills the first requirement, sooner or later I will like how it looks...
