Fixing nicks on graphite rods

#1

Post by Lou Bruno »

Recently became aware of a fix that airplane mechanics use to repair a nick on propellers. Pour super glue on the damaged area, then coat the super glue with baking soda. The baking soda acts as an accelerant to harden the glue, just about instantaneous...filling in the damaged area.

Some light sanding to smooth out the area might be required.

Curious how we might adapt this method to fly rods...if at all?

Lou, I would anticipate that is for cosmetic blending on non load bearing areas rather than a structural repair.
