Remember 27g is just the upper limit, some of my better lines are lighter.

Ok thanks. Don't have any DT's handy in those higher weights so I think ill just order one of Mike Barrios.

Where would be a good place to start with shooting line? Are there any restrictions on diameters etc. What do you use Lasse, James, Bart (not Paul cos he's hasn't made his mind up :D )

Would a 9wt cast these heads or is that too light? Don't have anything beefier at the moment as Ive snapped my Dancraft broomstick.

Cheers all

Go with Barrio mate.
I tried to play around got SNOWBEE DT line in 9wt, end up 50feet of 27grams head, then I wanted a longer head and got SNOWBEE DT 8wt line (we are talking white floating lines) and end up with 52 feet of 27grams head( not much gain with a head lenght).
Those heads are thick and dens( that is the feeling), but at the moment Im back to BARRIO.

Running line- a mono no thinner, than 0.35mm and here is whatever floats you boat mate.

P.s
We were making jokes( with Italian team) during WC in Cumbria.
Question was
WHAT HEAD FOR ST DISTANCE IS TELLIS USING?

Answer:
BARRIO ST27
Ha ha ha ha

P.s
This event take shit load of time to master, and Im talking from the avarage guy point of view.
Cheers

Hi Daniel

I use a 9'6" echo e3 that says 8 above the handle, and Paul needed to get to the third longest cast to beat me, and I had bicep tendonotis in my right arm :D :D :D

Your shootingline has to be thicker than 0,35mm (measured, not what the manufacturer Hope for....) I use some old berkley trolling line, XT solar, as it was cheap and I have a few kilometers of it ;)

Thanks Michal and Lasse, looks like the Barrio head it is.

I'll try with the 9wt rod I have until I can get a new tip or build a stiffer rod.

Are you trying to constantly balance mono thickness between shoot ability and ease of handling. For a total beginner to casting heads like myself, is there much lost in distance by upping the diameter while learning? I know I'm gonna have to just get out there and try this stuff for myself but just wanted some ideas of where to start.

Cheers

I currently use this backing :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dragon-Momoi ... 100623.m-1

Mainly because it says "competition" on it, so it must be good :D
