Faulty Tackle

#1

Post by Torsten »

Hi,

I've read recently on the German Fly Fishing Forum that someone had problems with the
Scierra Kevlar Running Line - this line snapped while casting and he lost two heads this way.
I'm wondering if this was just a "lemon".

Do you know any similar fails - products that are showstoppers
(I don't mean e.g. the action of fly rods - matter of taste - but truly faulty products by design).

This could be useful for others so that they don't fall into the same trap.

Thanks,
Torsten

Hi Torsten,

back in the mid to late 80s I had two or three Barstool lines snap in mid cast. Rods with breakage problems are not uncommon but I don't know of any at the moment.

I do find the "self-winding" fly reels to be a design fault!

Cheers, Paul
It's an exploration; bring a flyrod.
